TIME STUDY AND MOTION STUDY OF AN ASSEMBLY LINE JOB(MANUAL) DONE BY A WORKER EXPLORING HIS FIRO-B STATE

    Get PDF
An Industrial Engineer takes time study and motion study on a manual job done by a worker  without knowing his  FIRO-B  state. Sometimes there is conflicts between them. The author suggests that the time study man should explore his ego state before taking the study of a manual job like fitting in the assembly line. The author gives details of techniques to draw FIRO-B-GRAPH of the working person. When the worker is in a group of say 5 persons ,he has to earn the incentive in the group. We need to choose the worker based on his interpersonal relationship with other members. FIRO-B  consideration is an additional requirement for the time study man

Incentive is an motivational reward to all industrial workmen who are covered by Factories Act and guided by certified standing orders of the corporation. An incentive scheme may be defined as, ”a system of wage payment under which the earnings of an employee, or a group of employees , or all employees in an organisation is directly related to the output of an acceptable quality and over and above a standard laid down by means of predetermined formula” . The author here discusses only the financial incentive scheme

A SURVEY ON PUBLISHED PAPERS ON OPTIMIZATION IN THE ASSEMBLY LINE BALANCING PROBLEMS IN A HEAVY ENGINEERING INDUSTRY

    Get PDF
This paper gives a survey report on different optimization techniques used by different authors on assembly line balancing problems . The author gives a new technique which is different from them on minimization of number of work stations of a ALBP-1

DESIGNING FORMS AND FORMATS FOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM APPLIED TO INDUSTRY

    Get PDF
The author designs the important forms and formats which are used in implementing quality management system as per ISO 9000 series of standards. Forms and formats are used to keep records of the findings resulting from measurements and tests

EXPLORING CROSBY’S FOURTEEN STEPS TO QUALITY IMPROVEMENT APPLIED TO INDUSTRY

    Get PDF
In this paper the author explains the fourteen points of Crosby’s quality improvement  applied to industry . Examples are given to each point such that there is a clear understanding of each point. Explanations are given in such a way that the management of the industry may directly apply the thoughts of Crosby to practice

ESTABLISHMENT OF STANDARD TIME IN DIFFERENT SECTIONS/ DEPARTMENTS OF A LARGE HEAVY ENGINEERING INDUSTRY

    No full text
To establish the standard time work measurement techniques are applied. First of all the actual time taken in completing the job or desired task is noted down. This time is called the Observed time. Then we rate the worker under performance rating scale. Including this rating we calculate the Normal time. Adding the allowances to the normal time we establish the Standard time for the job under study

USE OF CONTROL CHARTS FROM DATA OBTAINED FROM COTTON TEST REPORT OF A LARGE TEXTILE INDUSTRY-PART 1

    Get PDF
X bar and R charts are used from the laboratory cotton test report of a large textile industry. This is done to take a decision about the supply quality of cotton bales from the supplier. X bar and R charts are most effective statistical process control tools to determine whether a process is out of control or not

OPTIMIZATION IN ASSEMBLY LINE BALANCING PROBLEM IN AN AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY USING HEURISTIC – C METHOD.

    No full text
To optimize the number of work stations for a given cycle time, we first establish the standard time by work measurement techniques . First of all the actual time taken in completing the job or desired task is noted down. This time is called the Observed time(OT). Then we rate the worker under performance rating(R) scale. Including this rating we calculate the Normal time(NT). Adding the allowances(AL) to the normal time we establish the Standard time(ST) for the job under study. The optimization is done using Heuristic coupled with C programming language method
